Jantastic

Hello Fudgey Friends

It's taken me a little longer than I hoped since my last post to get a chance to post again.....the challenges of being a full time working mum & wife & of course fitting in running.

Just a short post tonight to give you an update on my January running.

At the end of last year I signed up to the run yourself new challenge on The Running Bug website, each week from the 5th January they set a mileage target and you could log your bugmiles and track your progress. There were also opportunities to win prizes every week.

The plan for January was simply to get some consistent running 3 or 4 times a week and build up a good base before starting official marathon training in February.....

I smashed it....4 weeks.....4 runs per week.....62.54 miles run :-)

There were good runs, bad runs & some just OK runs but over the month it was just Jantastic.

Highlights were my longest run of the month at 7.59 miles and a week with 3 x steady strong 5 miles.

Thank you to everyone who motivated and supported me.....and to hubby for occasionally bullying me out of the door. Thank you also for the new running kit for my birthday & Christmas - it is being put to good use.

February sees the start of my official Marathon training & I have signed up for a half marathon in 4 weeks - more on both of those in my next post. I have also signed up for the February run yourself new challenge which starts today & have a 15 mile target total for this week. I have also joined The Boys versus Girls challenge....so plenty to keep me motivated.

Lots of love to all of you

The Fudgey Blog is back.....

Hello all

It's been a while but whilst out running today I decided that I would like to try and resurrect my blog.

My reasons are:

  • I am committed to a Marathon this year and blogging is a good way to keep my fabulous supporters updated.
  • I realise that not all my facebook friends share my passion for running and don't necessarily want to read status afrer status on my training. Also not everyone, who is interested,is a facebook or twitter user.
  • Keeping a blog lets me and others see my progress. It encourages and motivates me knowing that I need to post and keep everyone updated.
Life has been busy here and running and fitness had taken a bit of a back seat and my blog long neglected for a variety of reasons, the biggest of course being a mum. My little Bug.....well is still little but now 2 years old and I just love her so much. Now she is getting a bit older I really want to set her a good example and I want to be fit and healthy to run around with and after her.

After the disappointment of having to transfer my Edinburgh marathon place in 2014, I entered the Virgin London Marathon ballot but unfortunately was unsuccessful for the fourth year running :-( So before I could dwell too much I signed up for the Edinburgh marathon........and then had hardly ran since last November!

2015 - a new year and I wasn't certain if I wanted to or was able to run a marathon but I have decided that I do want to and that I can. January has already seen me run 44 miles slowly building up my mileage each week and enjoying my running. I have rejoined Bannatynes gym and am really hoping Colin Fraser can train me again. Official marathon training starts February.....hope you will join me on my journey, I need all your support and encouragement please

Lots of love

It's kind of running

Hello Fudgey Friends,

How are you all?

I am determined to try not to let my blog fall too far behind again as it is so hard to write the longer I leave it.

Last week was a mixed week, our precious little princess has been poorly & teething so nights have been very disturbed, but on a positive note I feel I have really settled back in at work, it was my first 3 day week which wasn't as tough as I expected & I had a really productive few days. I also started back running - well if you can call it running.....but I'm trying......

Running Update

Didn't run Monday or Tuesday due to a sore throat & with Buggy being poorly

Wednesday - 5.3km done

Saturday - Incline intervals done....1% to 10% ok, 10% to 12% hard work, 12% to 15% brutal only achieved by sheer bloody mindedness!

Sunday - 2.6km done

Mummy & Bug news

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday I was at work.

Buggy was not her usual self on Monday but Granny & Papa took good care of her.

She was well enough to go to nursery on Tuesday but they called me as I was on my way to collect her as she had a very high temperature. Calpol helped her feel a bit better though & brought her temp down.

Wednesday - poor wee munchkin hardly ate & was pretty miserable :-(

Thursday - I was glad I was off work & we had a lovely girls day together. I also had a chiropractor appointment.

Friday - had to miss swimming since Little Miss Bug has been poorly but managed to make the baby group Halloween party for a little while.

Saturday was just a quiet day at home

Sunday - Mr Fudgey & I had a wee shopping trip to Falkirk - largely unsuccessful as we only bought potatoes & mushrooms for dinner at Tesco but it was good to look at Smyths toy shop etc. Bug stayed with Granny & had great fun playing with her new vetch walker - thank you Granny & Papa. Then the was a very emotional moment when we came back & were so proud to see Buggy take her first assisted steps :-)

The week was pretty tiring with most nights disturbed but our amazing wee girl has still managed to smile, clap & chat even though she was having a rough time. We've been so lucky to get to almost 10 months without her being ill at all & it was inevitable once she started nursery that she'd pick up a few bugs. Hoping this week that she will be well enough to make her swim class on Friday.

I am getting tired now & think I will head to bed, I think is all our news from last week. Have a night out & a 10k run this week so will be able to update you on both of those in my next post

Take Care all

Under the weather

Hello Fudgey Friends,

Our update from the week beginning 7th October.
I got the tummy bug on Sunday night & was poorly through till Wednesday, then Mr Fudgey got it on Saturday, Thankfully it seemed to bypass Miss Bug, but it was a very quiet week in the Fudgey household.

Running Update
Still No Running. Seem to have lost my mojo. I knew going back to work would be tough & I just don't have the time or energy to run.

Mummy & Bug News

Monday - last Monday morning swimming lesson. Buggy had an afternoon with me though as Granny & Grandpa were still poorly.

Tuesday & Wednesday - I was at work .

Thursday - we met Elaine & Max for coffee & had a very nice relaxed afternoon.

Friday - baby group in the morning then Miss Bug had her haircut in the afternoon

Saturday / Sunday - Mr Fudgey started to feel poorly on Saturday evening & spent all day Sunday in bed - so us girls just hung out together.

I told you a pretty quiet week....lots more for next week though.....

Back to Work

Hello Fudgey Friends,

Apologies for my lack of blogging, the last 3 weeks just sem to have flown by & I haven't had a minute to sit down & write. This post is for week beginning 30th September.....the week of my return to work

Running Update

No running this week at all

Mummy & Bug News

Monday - swimming lesson in the morning then Bug went to Granny & Grandpa's, I was a bit teary leaving her as wouldn't see her till after work Tuesday. I had a chiropractor appointment in the afternoon, followed by a wee treat of getting my nails done for returning to work.

Tuesday - Back to work.....It was strange but nice to be back at work, only 1800 emails to sort through. Left sharp to collect Bug from nursery & they said she'd had a fantastic afternoon & had particularly enjoyed the ball pool.

Wednesday - my second day at work & Mr Fudgey & I both dropped little Miss Bug at nursery in the morning & collected her from Granny & Grandpa after work.

Thursday - Bug had a doctor's appointment & got an antibiotic for an ear infection. In the afternoon we met up with some of our antenatal group.

Friday - Baby group in the morning followed by lunch.

Saturday & Sunday - we were mostly at home, Poor Granny & Grandpa had a nasty tummy bug so we didn't see them.

So that's a quick round up, back soon with more.....

lots of love

Last week of maternity leave

Hello Fudgey friends,

How are you all?

Well last week was my last full week of maternity leave & today my last day - back to the world of the employed tomorrow.

Where have the last 10 months gone...just flown by....can't believe our beautiful baby girl will be 9 months at the weekend.

RUNNING UPDATE

A pretty poor & disappointing running week.

Wednesday - Got my run in before 8am as dropped little Miss Bug at nursery in my running gear & went straight from there 3.2km done.

Thursday - found out I'd been unsuccessful for the 3rd year in the vlm ballot - see my post here

Sunday - for a number of reasons had to withdraw from the Linlithgow 10k - see my post here
I did attempt a run on Sunday evening & I know I made the right decision re the 10k as it was just simply awful. Managed 5.2k but was wrecked.

I am now planning taking a week off from running as I settle back into work but I am hoping to maybe jump on the bike later in the week & start doing some core work again.

MUMMY & BUG NEWS

A strange week as we treated it as if I was back at work & the wee one started nursery........

Monday - swimming lesson, then young Bug went to Granny & Papa's & stayed overnight. Mr Fudgey & I went for a fantastic meal at McKirdy's in Edinburgh.

Tuesday - felt strange waking up without the baby monitor & the wee voice babbling away. I had a beauty appointment in the morning & then Granny, Papa & I took Miss Bug to nursery for her first official day. She went in no problem at all but when I went to get her at 5.30pm was shattered & had only slept 30 minutes.....the result....

Wednesday - nursery in the morning, Daddy Fudgey & I both took her & again she went in quite happily, hardly giving us a backwards glance. I got my run in & then after showering & having breakfast headed for the shops for some new work attire & new shoes. Granny & Papa picked little Bug up at lunchtime, she'd had a fairly good day & eaten all her lunch but was very upset when they picked her up...again had hardly slept....like her Mum she is too nosey. I collected her from Granny & Papa in the afternoon.

Thursday - haircut for going back to work & weigh clinic for the wee one. she is now 16 pounds 2oz.

Friday - baby group in the morning, & a really lovely lunch with Kat, Graeme & Matthew. Madam was off to her Grandparents again as I had a wee night out. Thank you again. It was not a late night for me - home by 8.30pm & I think I was in bed before 10pm.
Saturday - after picking up Buggy Boo it was just a quiet day at home, she had great fun making a new friend though

Sunday - a lovely quiet day at home just the 3 of us. Love my wee family so much.

And that was our week ;-)

Take care everyone
